This master’s research arose out of my personal curiosity. As a person living with hepatitis C I felt like there was a remarkable lack of dialogue about the issue in New Zealand, and I was interested to know how others living with the illness dealt with issues such as stigma, disclosure and treatment decisions. Interviewing twenty people living with hepatitis C in Auckland was a wonderfully rewarding experience and all my gratitude goes out to those people who shared their stories with me.
